Not mother, not father,
..........Not poet nor fool
Nor even the practice of
..........Golden rule.

Wisdom, I think,
..........though I may never know,
Sneaks quietly in when not expected,
..........Nor courted, nor wooed, nor educated;
But out of silence and observation,
Appreciation and participation
