Editor's note: During the time my grandmother and mother lived with my small family, one thing stays in my memory. My grandmother insisted on washing the dishes after every meal, every day, by hand. We had a dishwasher, but she preferred hand washing. And being a homeschooling family, that was three home-cooked meals each day for seven people. That's a lot of dishes. But, that was her self-appointed job. Her way of "earning her keep" and contributing to the family. I love and greatly admire my grandmother for her determination to keep right on contributing every day in whatever way she is able. Bless her.
