Were I to find proof,
Incontrovertibly
That I, in some successful past
Was Plato,
Would that decry philosophy?
..........Or could it be
..........That even he
..........Had rungs to climb?
That all the wisdom of the past
Must be re-learned
Or be forgot
...........And ev'ry single soul
...........Alone must know - or grow
...........In his own time and way?
Or that eternity
Un-divided be
And leads just to the One;
............Or perhaps, indubitably
............Last night's Martini
